Cameron Davidson - Aerial Photography

I've always loved flying or being very high up, like in the Arch or the Sears Tower.  I even jumped out of a plane once (by myself.)  Landed safely (barely.)  But that's another (long) story.  Cameron Davidson started his photography career in 1980 with National Geographic.  He needed an aerial view for one of the projects he was doing, hired a pilot, and he's been doing aerial shots ever since.  I love how, if you look close enough, you can find art in land and/or water scapes.

Elena Kalis Underwater Photography

Elena Kalis does some very lovely work.  She is a russian born photographer who now lives in the Bahamas, surrounded by pristine ocean water (of course.)  The image directly below is very intriguing.   It took me a minute to realize it was turned vertically to create that illusion.

Photo Manipulation Art

I love the idea of taking an image and manipulating it to show a whole other meaning.  Having just barely learned how to manipulate images, I am fascinated with the talent level shown in these images.  Not only are the separate pictures engaging, but the manipulation of them leads me to imagine a whole other world.

The Crit

I have come to really enjoy the critiquing sessions.  At first I was unsure how I'd feel about having people pick apart my photos... especially strangers.  Turns out if doesn't bother me... mainly because we have an awesome group of people :)  What I find so cool about the sessions is that what is put up there in physical form can be interpreted in so many different ways.  FELT in so many different ways.  A picture truly is worth a thousand words.  But if you have eight people looking at the picture, it's worth 8000, because of the difference in perspectives and individual life experiences.

Photo Junkie

I found this picture during a random search. I was really drawn to this image. I want to know her story. But I'll never be able to find out because I have no idea who photographed her.

Tsunami

This photo is of a tsunami wave in Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture, in ME Japan.  I recently watched the movie "The Impossible" and the terror I felt watching that made me so sad for everyone that had to endure that horror.  The photograph is from Mainichi Shimbun.  The photographers of this event placed their lives in danger for their work.  Very honorable thing to do.

Biomechanical tattoo artistry

My daughter wants to become a tattoo artist.  My first tattoo was a set of angel wings.  If I had the nerved I would get it changed to this.  Gorgeous!  But surely VERY painful!!!
